John was born into a farming family in Northumberland and went on to Newcastle university to study Agricultural Engineering. Not only was farming in his blood, but his father was very involved in local politics, serving for most of his life on the parish, district and county councils.
In the 80s John, his wife Gina and their children arrived in Seend, Wiltshire where they stayed for 12 years, before decamping to Scotland, a move which lasted 25 years. Although not born or bred here, coming to live in Urchfont in 2019 felt like ‘coming home’.Being back in Wiltshire and being co-opted onto the UPC has brought John a new life and new interests and, like his father before him, he thoroughly enjoys taking part in and supporting the local community.
Key Responsibilities include: First Responder Liaison and defibrillator maintenance, Councillor recruitment, Pond green maintenance as well as duck house and pond water replenishment.
